How much do you pay for your phone
I’m feeling jittery. *Paying £75pm. New contract. Unlimited everything which sadly I require for work. But still feels like I’ve been raped.

And not in a nice way. Is everyone similar?

*yes, I wiped my nob on it before signing

Re: How much do you pay for your phone
I have BT Broadband which is crap by the way but part of the deal i get SIMs for £5 each I get 200 minutes a month and limitless texts and 1GB of data. I do most of my texting on Whatsapp over WiFi and video calling on Facetime or WhatsApp. I have never used up any of the allowances. I have an Iphone 8 my daughter gave me after she upgraded.

My Samsung is nearly 3 years old and the battery is holding up well. I listen to the radio for 2 hours each day whilst walking the dog, make calls, some internet browsing, google maps, alarm clock. One charge per day usually does me.

Re: How much do you pay for your phone

Your battery is draining quickly as it’s maximum capacity has just decreased with age. Do you notice it charges quickly also ? Again that is because their is not much reserve in the battery so takes less time to fill up. Just go to the local mobile shop and get a new battery installed for about 30 quid and phone will be brand new again.

Totally, I have actually found GiffGaff to be a better provider, in as far as I have never once had to contact them about anything. Even whilst travelling, it just works everywhere, for £10. Never come close to hitting my limits, so all good.

Re: How much do you pay for your phone
£10 a month with VOXI. Gets me 12Gb of data, unlimited calls and texts, 5G (where available) and they still do roaming in Europe.

If you can, it always makes so much more sense to buy your phone outright and get on a cheap contract you can cancel at any time.

Re: How much do you pay for your phone
Currently I am paying 29 quid a month for a Galaxy S10e with 3. I get 100gb of data, unlimited calls and texts.

Only problem is they sponsor those prawn munching w@nkers on the other side of town.

Re: How much do you pay for your phone
I have always stuck with samsung, since i moved away from blackberry. the only thing with my samsung is when it gets to about 18 months old the batter seems to drain quicker and quicker and it wont even let you get through a day. i am sure this is something they do on upgrades, so now i dont bother doing any of the upgrades. which is a bit of a pain as it pops up every now and again and tries to force you to do it.

does anyone know if you can upgrade but remove the battery draining element?

Re: How much do you pay for your phone
My phone broke beyond repair so I bought a new one for £3 from Argos + £10 pay as you go voucher so £13 in total. I usually use £10 for about 2 months and sometimes even longer, so I don't use it for talking inconsequential drivel in public. It is perfectly adequate for calls and texts.

£75 a month for a phone?
FOMB, some of you have more money than sense.

I pay £21 pm for the latest Moto G9 Power which is fine.
The biggest downside is the camera is crap.

On O2, Pay £47 a month for 80 gig of data and unlimited minutes, got a Samsung S11(I think).

Due upgrade in July.

2 Sims, both with BT
£10 p/m for 20Gb, £8 p/m for 5Gb. Both unlimited calls and texts.
Cheap as part of my fibre broadband deal.

I’m on 3 for roaming reasons , still free in Spain as we speak.

€13.99 with calls, data and messaging all unlimited for life.

Also includes overseas use (not unlimited but with enough to get thru a few weeks abroad)

Re: How much do you pay for your phone
For anyone thinking about switching to Sky Mobile, they currently don't have a deal that enables WIFI on the Underground, so if you use that don't go with Sky Mobile

Re: How much do you pay for your phone
you made me go check.... actually £25 for the 3 of us.
I can't remember if that is all tied in with discounts on the broadband and BT Sports to be honest.
Will keep sky in mind next time things are up for renewal

madeeasy 1:47 Thu Nov 18
Re: How much do you pay for your phone
Heath, look at switching that to sky as it will be less than half price for what you have said

Re: How much do you pay for your phone
Check if you really need unlimited data.

You should be able to find out what your data usage has been. Divide the cash price of the phone by 24 months (or whatever your contract term is) - then you can see what they are charging you for the plan. use this to then haggle.

i think i pay about £35 for Me, Mrs and Miss Heath - BT sim only plans - unlimited calls, texts and enough data that we have never used more than 50

Buy the phones outright.

Re: How much do you pay for your phone
My prediction is O2 will stay not charging for roaming and do what 3 did when they broke the market by offering free roaming, get lots of new clients and then the others will start offering free roaming to compete.

Which is EXACTLY what happened when 3 did it, despite incorrect claims that the EU changed the market.

madeeasy 11:46 Thu Nov 18
Re: How much do you pay for your phone
in regards to eu roaming, with sky it is included and they said they dont have any plans to change that. when EE called me to ask why I was leaving and what could they do, I said about the eu roaming and they said well if i had asked then for existing customers they can forego that and not charge me, I asked why they didn't automatically say for existing customers there would be no charge and they said it was too difficult to communicate that with just existing customers!

I fucking hate bullshit like that, so left.

Re: How much do you pay for your phone
I pay £90 a month on EE, but this includes three extra sim cards for my wife and two kids - the additional sims have unlimited calls and texts but very little data, I get round this by donating mine. Its handy as I can content filter what the kids can access through the EE app.

Re: How much do you pay for your phone
Tenner a month with GiffGaff. That provides me all I need. I have a four year old phone which is still fully functional so I have no reason to get a newer phone. I don't waste my six figure salary on frivolous purchases like the latest 'trendy' new smartphone out on the market.
